Storyline

At the Melrose family's glorious house in the South of France, young Patrick has the run of the magical grounds. His father David rules with cruelty and his mother Eleanor has retreated into self medication and booze. Bravely imaginative and self-sufficient out of necessity, 9-year-old Patrick encounters the volatile lives of adults with fear. They are expecting guests for the weekend, but this afternoon is profoundly unlike other summer days, and the shocking events that precede the guests' arrival tear Patrick's world in two. Patrick Melrose

Never Mind

The rudimentary process is the only weakness in this masterpiece where craft and hardwork touches over the horizon that cannot be anything but utterly mesmerizing. The writing is edgy, brutal and dark with a hint of amusement in each character that helps it ground the characters and offer them the appropriate gravitas. The execution and editing is eerie yet familiar especially in such a tone that focuses primarily on character development. Addition to that, the heart of the feature lies upon the stellar performance by the protagonist who is genuinely investing all his chips in; Benedict is a revelation. Patrick Melrose is a character driven series containing some concrete material to offer and so what if they make the audience work for it; it's worth joining it.

Never Mind focused on the backstory; justifying his current situation, and goes into dark places where no one has been before with some cringe-worthy high tense sequence that leaves the audience in awe which is drawn out mostly by the stellar performance and brilliant execution.
