Wanda Sykes, delivers a sharp-witted and hilarious critique on the state of the world, addressing her perspective on the current political and cultural climate, which she can only describe as, well - not normal.
In his first stand-up special, Hasan Minhaj weaves humorous and heartbreaking anecdotes to tell his life story as an Indian-American Muslim. Topics include racism, bullying and meeting the demanding expectations of his immigrant parents.
John Mulaney relays stories from his childhood and Saturday Night Live (1975), eviscerates the value of college, and laments getting older in this comedy special. Other topics include the church, his family, Trump and pedophiles abducting kids.
In her fourth stand-up special, Whitney Cummings returns to her hometown of Washington, D.C., and riffs on modern feminism, relationships, technology and, of course, sex robots. She also brings a very special guest to say hi.
Trust this review, but watch the special and judge for yourself.
I have been waiting for this day for a very long time. I am a comedy-geek and, like millions of people around the world, I grew up on stand up comedy. I honestly believe Ellen Degeneres is one of the greatest comedians of our time; at least she has that potential. "Taste This" was a near perfect debut. She had the comedic sensibility of a Bob Newhart.
*deep sigh* // this is a terrible stand up special. It is nothing but filler material. I wish it were better. It should have been better. I kept stopping every 5-10 minutes and switching to Maria Bamford, Louis CK, Bill Burr and Amy Sedaris' new series in order to cleanse my palette // *deep sigh*
Peace and Love, regardless.
