The rebels use an old method of crime to send a message to the cartel
Ed-Shullivan13 September 2018
Revenge may be a dish best served cold but in this episode the rebels take a play out of the cartels own playbook that ends up having dire consequences for both the rebels and the Galindo cartel's leader Miguel (Danny Pino).

Miguel's wife Emily (Sarah Bolger), who is the mother of Miguel's only son is very frustrated with her husband's ongoing war with the rebels. Emily discreetly heads to the Reyes family butcher shop under the pretense that she is just picking up a roast but her real intention is to meet with her old lover and trusted friend, EZ for some answers that her husband Miguel is hiding from her.

The Mayans are stuck in the middle between the rebels and the Galindo cartel who have different opinions on what the drug cartel brings to their country. The Galindo cartel reaps wealth and prosperity while the rebels know that the drug cartel leaves the rebels with far too many orphans and they will sacrifice their own lives to see an end to the drug cartel.

No one is more conflicted than the recently released from prison Mayan prospect EZ, whose own brother Angel (Clayton Cardenas) is all in with the Mayans motorcycle club (MC). EZ is also very conflicted by the two leading women who are on opposite sides. Namely Emily who is the drug cartel leaders wife and mother of their only son, and the female leader of the righteous rebels Adelite, (Carla Baratta). He has feelings for both women.

The conflicts are continuing to evolve and we will see how EZ resolves to appease both parties in the upcoming episodes.

I'm a latecomer to this series

Warning: Spoilers
I didn't ever start watching Mayans because of theimpression I had of SOA, but this is much better than SOA in my opinion. SOA had this goofy comedy thing as an undertone and the characters were more like caricatures of bikers. This series is more solid, and the Mayan characters are serious guys who don't go around high all the time and are more about business. I like this better.

The pilot episode was interesting and not too much over the top with the action scenes, but the thing about EZ being a snitch for laDEA kind of put me off. In SOA there was always this "good cop" thing going on that I didn't like and the SAMCRO chapter being formed with the Red Emma Goldman worship going on before the club turned to gunrunning, all that old commie/anarchist mess being the basis seemed silly to me.

The part of the story that has the Mayans MC being allied with a cartel doesn't really work for me, so I'll have to wait and see how that turns out. It's being said that the connection is with Marcus being the connection with Galindo just based on an agreement between Marcus's pops and the elder Galindo kind of makes sense and keeps the Mayans still uncommitted to the cartel.

I'm looking for a split between the cartel and the club and some kind of resolution of EZ getting loose from laDEA. It's not easy to imagine how EZ doesn't get killed if his snitching is exposed. That will be the tricky part, I guess.

Nothing much here.

Warning: Spoilers
A poor mans version of the S O A. There is rebels, and bikers with a drug cartel. Like S O A we have boring soap opera style sub stories. Over elongated explanations with over dramatic over acting. I am hoping what we are have here is slow character development, but I doubt it. Directed and acted well. But with the high budget it should be! The second episode feels like being bogged down in a swap. Slow and dragging with the typical P C message of glories rebels fighting against the man, which make the series very very formulated. I will give the series a another viewing, but I am losing interesting very fast. 6 out of 10 stars, and I am being generous.
