Firedrake is a young silver dragon, who has had enough of constantly having to hide in a wooded valley. He wants to show the older generations of dragons that he is a real dragon. When humans are about to destroy his family's very last refuge, Firedrake secretly sets off on an adventurous journey with forest brownie, Sorrel. He wants to find the "Rim of Heaven", the dragons' mysterious haven. On their quest Firedrake and Sorrel encounter Ben, an orphan and stray, who claims to be a dragon rider. While Ben and Firedrake make friends quickly, Sorrel becomes increasingly distrustful and tries to get rid of the orphan at every opportunity. But the unlikely trio have to learn to pull together, because they are being hunted by Nettlebrand, an evil, dragon-eating monster was created by an alchemist with the aim of tracking down and destroying every dragon on Earth.
I did not liked This animated German film "Dragon Rider" 😣
Normally, I love this kind of movies, but this one I could not find appealing at all.
For one thing, The drawing of the characters is mediocre, especially the metallic antagonist, the multi-eyed genie coming out of chasis of an abandoned VW beattle exhaust (German movie, right?)
It's just too strange and crazy. Plus the development of the story is all over the place.
The orphan kid is is course a latino thief kid and the natives who point the kid to to rim are Indians depicting the chief as a Indian food street vendor and the wizard lady bending a fat old lady with blue eyes.
Yes, cartoons for kids do not need to be realistic, but this one goes too far, and I can not image a kid loving this film.
Think about the lovable minions, gru and so many adorable fun characters for kids.
Here you will find none of that, I promise.
This was a waste of time. I honestly did not like it. You can try if you want, but i surely do not recommend it to you. ✋
