Episode 1.3

Next of Kin seems to be caught between bad writing, sketchy characterization and everybody being stupid.

Here is an example. At the climax of this episode as the British police/security service trail Danish, they are told remember you have no jurisdiction over here. Yet last week they operated what looked like a shoot to kill policy on a foreign land and ended up shooting Mona by mistake.

Well Mona quickly recovers in hospital and decides not to go all guns blazing against the police for shooting her and trying to murder her nephew. While she was in hospital a woman visits her claiming that Danish needs £12,000 to be able to leave Pakistan.

Back in the UK, Mona gets no further advice on this matter and uses Guy's account to transfer the money. Not realising that she has in effect got involved in funding a terrorist. It is not long before she is hauled onto the police station.

The British police do take Danish into protective custody in Lahore but somebody else is also on their trail.

Somewhere here lies a much better story but this is not it.
