OK so it's not a 'great' series like The Wire or The Sopranos, but it's perfectly watchable. If you like Greys Anatomy then you'll probably like this as well - don't understand all the negative reviews at all.
The stories may not be realistic, (but neither are Greys Anatomy!) but if you want realism then watch a documentary, it's escapism, it's ENTERTAINMENT.
The comments about the acting seem unfair as well, again it's totally fine
So, in summary, if you don't like it then don't watch, but, for me, I'm enjoying it and will definitely continue to watch - taking it for what it is, a TV show where the actors just happen to be pretending to be fire fighters.

Despite being a spinoff, Station 19 has proved with both viewers and ratings that it has what it takes to hold its own. This show is not "just another firefighter show", nor is it another drama like Grey's. This show has a cast that is diverse in ways of race, ethnicity, culture, sexuality, etc. It showcases storylines that pushes boundaries of what society has typically deemed unacceptable to discuss on prime-time television- abortion, racial profiling, police brutality. It has representation of the most organic sapphic relationship of any television or movie I have ever seen. The chemistry between the two actors that play the characters of Maya and Carina are phenomenal at portraying the love between the two. The ups and downs, and everything in between, they are purely magic. This show is truly incredible. It should be continued on, and can definitely be watched independently of Grey's Anatomy so don't worry!

Station 19 is a Grey's Anatomy spinoff that focuses on the lives and stories of BIPOC & LGBTQ characters. The representation of diverse races, genders, sexual orientations, and lived experiences is evident in its cast and crew which is rare and desperately needed on TV today. Further, the show expertly tackles multiple social and political issues through award-winning writing that leaves lasting impacts on their viewing audience. The cast is talented and immensely entertaining. This one is for those who look for action, drama, romance, friendships and family. If you loved Grey's Anatomy, this is even better.
Station 19 is without doubt one of the best TV shows I've ever seen. The characters, their stories, their cases as firefighters and paramedics are so entertaining that it had me hooked after a few episodes. All the characters had won my heart, especially Maya and Carina (hurts me so much because they deserve to be happy, please writers, let them be happy and not suffer) and I can't wait too see what's coming in the second part of S6. And to those who say that this TV show is not like the real life, then go watch a documental because a TV show is for entertaining, not showing how exactly is in real life, period.
Station 19 is hands down favourite TV show! There's a reason it's ABC's top rated show! Not only are there gripping incidents that you see the team respond to but you also get a deep insight into each character. The characters are fully fleshed out, so multi-dimensional and with so many different layers to them.
A special shout out has to go to Maya and Carina and their relationship. It is the most beautiful relationship that provides not only incredibly important wlw representation but is also simply a privilege to watch. Danielle Savre and Stefania Spampinato are phenomenal actors and their chemistry is out of this world!
The show covers so many incredibly important topics and does so each time with sensitivity and authenticity.
Station 19 is the best! <3.

- TriviaWhile apparently set in Seattle, filming is mostly done in Los Angeles. The fire-station's exterior establishing shots are from the Seattle Fire Department's actual Station 20 (there is no real-world 'Station 19'), located on 15th Avenue West on Queen Anne's west side.
- GoofsFirefighters in the real world must be clean-shaven. Beards (even long stubble) can interfere with their breathing apparatus and would not be permissible.
