Calvin Barr, an old, bitter recluse who was once a legendary assassin for the US government, and whose task to kill Hitler almost changed the course of WWII, is asked to come back from retirement for one final top secret mission - to track down and eliminate a Bigfoot that became infected with a deadly disease that could spread to others if the creature remains on the loose in the forest for too long. During the mission, Barr's WWII past is shown through flashbacks.
Part of the film was shot in Turners Falls, Massachusetts. See more »
When Calvin accepts the dinosaur from his little brother, he is wearing a US Army uniform in advance of his deployment to Europe. The patch on his right shoulder is that of the First Army, a large black A on a white and red field. This insignia was adopted 1950 - from 1922 to 1950 the patch was a large black A on a olive green field. See more »
My grandfather use to tell all kinds of stories about this one soldier... but he wasn't taking about a man, but rather something mythic.

A finely crafted, quirky, well acted film, starring Sam Elliot as the Sam Elliot character, that has a deep and meaningful message despite the title. Or maybe just a film trying hard to be deep, meaningful, and at the same time quirky, but drowning in schmaltz. Either way, it was intriguing for a while, but my interest waned long before the end.
