Surprisingly overrated
27 March 2018 | by jamesmdowsettSee all my reviews

Assassin's creed origins had an awful lot of potential and does in fact deliver on some very much needed upgrades to the franchise, the main character Bayek is one of the most likeable and realistic characters to date, his voice acting and motion capture is very well done. The game world of Egypt is also stunning and works well in the levelling system. In fact many of the game mechanics including fighting work really well.

However the low rating on this game is due to its painfully slow and honestly non-existent story line. I'm not sure after finishing this game how it explained the origins of the brotherhood and what the plot actually detailed. It's just the usual, kill this guy, now this guy, oh yeh this guy too. I imagine fans of the series will be disappointed in the way the creed was born in this game, a shame to throw away a potentially epic origin story just for a good world and fight mechanics. I'd also mention it feels like stealth has been stripped back and not for the better, which is a shame for a game that revolves around this type of gameplay.

A good game but a poor assassins creed product.
