Though it is at times a bit dramatic and over the top, its really good show with a good storyline. I have to admit, for me its more personal.
I grew up in the town it was filmed in so there is a lot of nostalgia for me and many reminders of my childhood, good and bad. Much of the story is spot on, not inclusive of the alzheimers part. Contrabandists were a daily part of living there, everyone knew who had their hand in, which many did. It was to hard to pass up and too easy to do. The beaches are by far the best.
Lastly, I don't think you can truly appreciate the movie unless you know Castilian and some of the culture, for me it was by far the best part. The translation unfortunately takes away from it.
I look forward to season 2
