A real test of one's patience.
15 November 2017 | by BA_HarrisonSee all my reviews

As an advocate of independent horror, I try hard to find the positives in even the worst low-budget crapola. The Dark Side of The Womb features a skateboarding dwarf (yes, that's a good thing in my book).

Pint-size wannabe Tony Hawks (Tiny Hawks?) aside, the film is a virtually unwatchable mess, with thoroughly grating performances and a ridiculous and often surreal plot that makes not a lick of sense.

The film begins with Mrs. Wænd (Mickey Faerch) giving birth to two babies, Justin and dwarf Ed. Justin is the apple of his mother's eye, while diminutive Ed is shown no love.

The film then moves 30 years to the present, and sees Justin murdered by a pair of clowns. Meanwhile, big-boned Linda (Fay Lytle) gives birth… to a severed head. Shocked, Linda's boyfriend Jesse (David Moneymaker) faints and cracks his skull on the floor, killing him instantly.

In a desperate move, Dr. Necrophilous (Art Roberts) performs an operation, transplanting the 'head baby' onto Jesse's body, but Jesse (now played by Josh Connor) is a changed man, more than just a little bit creepy, and Linda leaves.

Happiness seems just around the corner, however, when Linda meets Ed and falls in love. The unlikely pair get married, but find themselves menaced by Jesse, who has lost his mind and has taken on the guise of killer clown Booger.

After Booger tracks down Linda and stabs her, a distraught Ed cuts open his wife and climbs inside her body, where he converses with her internal organs before settling down in her womb.

If all of that sounds like a waste of precious time, that's because it is.

Except for the skateboarding dwarf scene, that is.
