Mulder and Scully are attacked by a private security agency just as they get a video call from Langly, who was supposed to have been dead for 16 years. Helped by Skinner, they manage to escape, get hold of the X-files and learn about the simulation program Langly is now part of. On the second call, Langly begs them to kill the program which was designed by the private agency which the FBI support. Scully and Mulder manage to sneak in the headquarters of the agency and have a shot at destroying the program.

When Scully calls for help after the first attack in their home, she says her badge number is XF072161. However, later on, when she pretends she has arrested Mulder in order to get into the Titanpointe building, she tells the young FBI agent that her badge number is XF071261. Both these numbers are completely different to her first badge number revealed in the fourth season episode "Teliko" (JTT0331613), which, in turn, is also different to the one used in the fifth season episode "Christmas Carol" (2317616).
