The original MST3k is a favorite of mine, I know the show well.
The original was never annoying, just funny and pleasant.
These new episodes are highly annoying; even the new theme song is annoying. The whole cast has a cocky attitude, self-aware that they are happy to be "back." Yet they had nothing to do with the original show or anything that made it good. Felicia Day is horrible, not funny at all. Jonah Ray is horrible, not funny and annoying to listen to and look at.
Also, since the new cast/writers have released their favorite episodes of the original series, guess what you find out when you re-watch all those old episodes they mention?
Well I'll tell you, you hear all the same jokes!
This new breed of jerk-offs totally recycle tons of lines they have used on the classic show! And if it isn't a lifted joke from an old episode, chances are it's some reference to filmmaking, the most overused type of joke in the new season.
I also can't get over how the set doesn't look as good as it used to.
The show just doesn't have the taste it used to. This Return is gaudy, unfunny, and very annoying.
Anyone who thinks this is on par with the original is flat out wrong, and likely not smart enough to recognize the difference between the two. But that may be the point as the original was probably deemed too smart of a show to be created in the first place.
