Animating Elmer (2017)
*** (out of 4)
This six-minute featurette with special effects creator Al Magliochetti has him talking about his work on the 1988 film BRAIN DAMAGE. The majority of the running time has Magliochetti talking about specific scenes in the movie and discussing how they did the special effects. This includes the illusion that the parasite Elmer is coming out of the lead actor's mouth. There's also some nice stories about the creativity that had to happen in order for the low-budget effects to work. If you're a fan of BRAIN DAMAGE then you'll certainly enjoy this interview as there are some very good stories told about the production and it's always fascinating hearing how the effects were done.
