Exclusive Come As You Are Clip: Let Me Tell You About Canada
Three people show their true colors in our exclusive clip from Come As You Are. Described by our own J Hurtado as "a charming, poignant, affectionate take on the road trip movie" (quote from his positive review), the film follows three young men with disabilities as they embark on a journey that may, possibly, change their lives. The official synopsis notes the reason for their trip is to "flee their overbearing parents on a road trip to a brothel in Montreal catering to people with special needs. Sam (Gabourey Sidibe), a traveling nurse, drives the three guys across the border as they go on this trip to lose their virginity and embrace their independence. The film is based...

Edward Norton Denies Costing Janeane Garofalo ‘Fight Club’ Role: ‘She’s Really Mistaken’

Edward Norton Denies Costing Janeane Garofalo ‘Fight Club’ Role: ‘She’s Really Mistaken’
Edward Norton went on the defensive after comedian and actress Janeane Garofalo accused him of costing her a role in David Fincher’s 1999 cult classic “Fight Club.” Garofalo joined Yahoo’s Build Series last week for an interview to promote her new film “Come As You Are” and revealed that she was nearly cast as Marla Singer opposite Norton and Brad Pitt in “Fight Club.” Singer is the film’s most prominent female character. Helena Bonham Carter played the role in the movie. Garofalo said Norton told Fincher she “didn’t have the chops” to play the role and instead lobbied for the director to cast his then-girlfriend Courtney Love.

“I was like, ‘Can I audition with him or for him?'” the actress said. “And I was told that he would like Courtney Love to do it, because he was dating her, but Brad Pitt said, ‘I’m not

Come as You Are Trailer Takes Gabourey Sidibe on a Coming-of-Age Road Trip

Come as You Are Trailer Takes Gabourey Sidibe on a Coming-of-Age Road Trip
The first trailer for Come As You Are has arrived. This is the latest from director Richard Wong, which made its debut earlier this year at SXSW in Austin, Texas to much acclaim from those who saw it. Those who weren't in attendance at the festival will soon have the chance to check it out for themselves, as it's making its way to theaters in the U.S. in early 2020. And, based on this trailer, this promises to put a pretty unique, real-life spin on the classic road trip comedy.

As we can see from the trailer, the idea here is that three young guys with different disabilities have decided to take a journey together. They're on a quest to lose their V-cards. Hijinks ensue. What's amazing is that the movie seems to, more or less, be playing with the standard format associated with these movies. Yet, this is based on a completely crazy,

Come As You Are Trailer: Goin' to the Brothel, Disabled Or Not

"Goin' to the chapel and we're gonna get married," sang The Dixie Cups in "Chapel of Love," written by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector. In Come As You Are, three young men with disabilities are most definitely not going to a chapel intending to marry. Instead, per the official synopsis, they "flee their overbearing parents on a road trip to a brothel in Montreal catering to people with special needs." Hmm, this really does not sound like The Dixie Cups. The synopsis continues: "Sam (Gabourey Sidibe), a traveling nurse, drives the three guys across the border as they go on this trip to lose their virginity and embrace their independence. A remake of the award winning,...

Amusing Trailer for Road Trip Sex Comedy Remake 'Come As You Are'

"To our boners!" Samuel Goldwyn Films has unveiled an official trailer for an indie sex comedy titled Come As You Are, which first premiered at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. It also went on to play at the Traverse City, Calgary, Tallgrass, Philadelphia, and Napa Valley Film Festivals throughout the past year. This film is yet another of the English-language remakes of European films (this one is based on Hasta La Vista). Three young men with disabilities hit the road with a jaded nurse as a driver to a brothel in Montreal catering to people with special needs. Starring Grant Rosenmeyer, Hayden Szeto, & Ravi Patel, plus Gabourey Sidibe, Delaney Feener, Asta Philpot, Janeane Garofalo, and C.S. Lee. This looks like an amusing, uplifting "buddy pic" about some folks who don't normally get the spotlight in indie comedies. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Richard Wong's Come As You Are,

Lil Peep’s ‘Everybody’s Everything’ is a Posthumous Grab Bag That Chronicles the Enigmatic Rapper’s Rise

Lil Peep’s ‘Everybody’s Everything’ is a Posthumous Grab Bag That Chronicles the Enigmatic Rapper’s Rise
Lil Peep was barely 21 years old and already an international star when he died from an overdose of Xanax and fentanyl on his tour bus in Tucson in 2017. Peep was divisive in his lifetime; a gangly outcast from Long Island with a “Crybaby” face tat and hair the color of Fruity Pebbles milk, he sang lucid and dark lullabies about death, misery, rampant drug use, and groupie sex. In the critical establishment, reflexive skepticism towards his flamboyant appearance and unsubtle blend of alt-rock, pop-punk, and trap inevitably turned into curiosity,

In the Room at Nirvana’s ‘MTV Unplugged in New York’

Everyone remembers the sweater, but I mostly remember the hush.

Twenty-five years ago today, Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged in New York arrived on CD, cassette and VHS tape. By then, Kurt Cobain had been dead nearly seven months, and the appearance of this largely acoustic performance, taped nearly a year before, took on the feel of a memorial service. That mood wasn’t reflected simply in the look of the stage – which, with its flowers and candles, eerily evoked the “funeral” scenario Cobain was aiming for – but also in the toned-down performances of “All Apologies,

Smells Like Holy Spirit: Watch Kanye West’s Sunday Service Cover Nirvana
Kanye West’s choir put an uplifting, Christian spin on two Nirvana songs, “Come As You Are” and “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” at the rapper’s most recent Sunday Service performance.

In a video, the choir stands in a circle and sings the Nevermind tracks while decked out in white. “Just confess/ he’ll do the rest/ Christ is here,” they sing to the tune of “Come As You Are.” Later, they replace “memoria” with “hallelujah,” chanting it over and over. They do the same for the “hello hello hello,

Unplugged: Is the Guitar Solo Finished?

Unplugged: Is the Guitar Solo Finished?
About two minutes into “Outta My Head,” from the new album Free Spirit by pop-r&B star Khalid, a strange, foreign sound bubbles to the song’s shiny disco-pop surface. It’s a squiggly, pitchy thing that echoes the melody for about 15 seconds before receding into the background.

Could it be … yes, it’s a guitar solo!

The solo on Khalid’s album, played by John Mayer, is a way for the genre-hopping Khalid to show off his omni-directional vision. But in 2019, there’s no denying that the flashy guitar-breakout moment,
