Storyline

Tom Hanks hosts a second tribute to acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns that focuses attention on the many single documentaries and short series that Burns has produced over the years. "American Sampler" includes material from the first Ken Burns: America's Storyteller (2017) show plus new material that explores the tremendous depth and breadth of his work with a special emphasis on films about Thomas Jefferson, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, Mark Twain, Jackie Robinson and the Roosevelts. This program concludes with a sneak peek at the next project from Burns, a chronicle of the history of American country music that is set for a 2019 release.
