Amazon Studios Circling Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Foe’

Amazon Studios Circling Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Foe’
Amazon Studios is in late-stage discussions for “Foe,” an adaptation of Iain Reid’s science-fiction novel starring Saoirse Ronan, Lakeith Stanfield and Paul Mescal.

The streamer is closing in on global rights in a competitive situation, though a deal has yet to be signed. FilmNation is handling international rights, while CAA Media Finance and UTA’s Independent Film Group are co-representing domestic rights.

Directed by “Lion’s” Garth Davis, who wrote the script with Reid based off the Canadian author’s 2018 novel, “Foe” is set in the near future, where corporate greed is destroying the environment. Mescal and Ronan, both of whom are Irish, play Junior and Hen, respectively, who have been married for seven years and live a reclusive life on a remote farm. Their lives change forever when a stranger at their door (Stanfield) tells them Junior has been selected to travel to an experimental space station orbiting Earth.

‘Foe’: Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal & Lakeith Stanfield To Star In Director Garth Davis’ Sci-Fi Drama
To say Garth Davis has experienced an interesting filmmaking career is an understatement. After breaking out in a big way with his Oscar-nominated feature, “Lion,” he experienced some issues finding release for his follow-up, “Mary Magdelene.” And then, after the film finally was released, the filmmaker surprisingly landed the coveted gig as director of “Tron 3.” But before he jumps over to Disney, he is set to tackle a sci-fi drama, “Foe,” which features a pretty stacked cast.

New Tron Movie Is Reportedly One Of Disney’s Most Expensive Films Ever

New Tron Movie Is Reportedly One Of Disney’s Most Expensive Films Ever
Disney’s extensive portfolio of properties gives them access to some of the biggest and most beloved franchises in Hollywood, an incredibly deep roster of brands that only got bigger when the Mouse House assumed control of the 20th Century Fox library, but the studio are adamant that come hell or high water, Tron eventually launches a multi-film series.

Jared Leto is currently in training to throw on the skintight leotard for next installment Ares, and by the time the movie hits theaters, it’ll mark just the third feature-length outing in a franchise that started almost 40 years ago. The cult classic original hardly set the box office alight in 1982, but gained a following thanks to the intricate worldbuilding and innovative visual effects, while Joseph Kosinski’s Legacy did a decent $400 million globally, but didn’t turn enough of a profit to justify a sequel.

Jared Leto Shows Off His Ripped Body For New Tron Movie

Jared Leto Shows Off His Ripped Body For New Tron Movie
A question nobody has ever thought to ask before is “how ripped do you need to get to star in a Tron movie?” If you’re Jared Leto, the answer is very.

Having officially signed on to headline the third installment in the long-running franchise, the Academy Award winner is set to hit the gym hard, and you can guarantee that Bruce Boxleitner never looked like this under his jumpsuit back in 1982.

The Tron brand has existed for almost 40 years at this point, and spawned a grand total of two movies in that time. Legacy arrived 28 years after the original, and while it featured some dazzling visuals, solid worldbuilding and a banging Daft Punk soundtrack, on a narrative level it left a lot to be desired. These were matters that weren’t helped by a painfully wooden performance from Garrett Hedlund along with the de-aging technology used on Jeff Bridges

Tron 3 Title Revealed Then Deleted by Jared Leto

Tron 3 Title Revealed Then Deleted by Jared Leto
Following the exciting news that director Garth Davis and Oscar winning actor Jared Leto have signed on to Tron 3, the latter took to social media to confirm his involvement with a heartfelt message that potentially gives away the movie's mysterious title, Tron: Ares. Leto quickly deleted the reference to the Tron 3 title a few minutes later from his posts on both Twitter and Instagram. You can read his updated Instagram post below.

"I'm struck with such gratitude for the opportunity to bring this movie to life, especially as both the original video game and the film affected me so deeply as a young child. Tron 3 Title Possibly Revealed by Jared Leto

Tron 3 Title Possibly Revealed by Jared Leto
Jared Leto already has major movie franchises on his plate, but the pile just recently grew with the confirmation of his starring role for the back-on-track Tron 3. While the star’s excitement over that film’s latest development—the hiring of director Garth Davis—was palpable, it seems that said excitement might have led to a slip of Disney state secrets, specifically the film’s official title.

Tron: Ares is the title that Leto cited, apparently mistakenly, in a recent tweet that—conspicuously enough—was subsequently deleted. Indeed, in the original version of the now-reposted and edited tweet, Leto similarly confirmed his starring role, but went so far as to divulge the full title of the film for which he has been cast. The tweet in question—seemingly designed as an impromptu title reveal—was a reply to another in which the star conveys gratitude for the role,

Link Tank: Examining Disney’s Experiment With Mulan

Link Tank: Examining Disney’s Experiment With Mulan
Would you pay $30 to see Mulan? Let’s examine what Disney’s newest gamble could mean for the state of movies and theaters going forward.

“But Disney’s decision to release its long-delayed live action remake of Mulan in September for a fee of $29.99 isn’t just a contingency plan necessitated by the pandemic. The price tag represents years of research by film studios into what fans would be willing to pay to see theatrical releases early, at home — something that admittedly sounds a little less enticing when you have been trapped in your living room for the past six months.”
