X-Men: Dark Phoenix Producer Says The Movie Could’ve Been R-Rated

It’s fair to say that Dark Phoenix hasn’t had a great build-up to its June 7th release date. Perhaps the most troubled comic book movie of the summer (if you discount the fiasco of Hellboy), X-Men fans are probably keeping their expectations pretty low. Producer Hutch Parker has recently suggested, though, that audiences may have seen a different take on the material, with Fox having considered an R-rated version rather than the eventual PG-13.

Parker was somewhat cagey about the prospect of increasing the harder content in Dark Phoenix to justify the R-rating, but responded to questions about the certificate as follows:

“Not really, not really. We would’ve. I mean I don’t think, it wouldn’t have been something we were shy about. We try, not unlike with Logan, we try to let the story dictate the rating, so to really decide what story are we telling,

Watch Hugh Jackman Sing Happy Birthday To X-Men Co-Star Ian McKellen

Despite acting as mortal enemies on the big screen, it looks like Hugh Jackman and Sir Ian McKellen couldn’t be better friends. The two X-Men stars, who appeared together in a total of five films across the long-running franchise, have obviously remained close since their time on camera together came to an end five years ago.

Case in point: McKellen turned 80 years old on Friday, so the multi-talented Jackman decided to give the performer the biggest round of “Happy Birthday” he’d ever heard. Posting a video on his Twitter account yesterday afternoon, the Wolverine actor shows up on the stage of his currently-running one man show, The Man. The Music. The Show. After apologizing for not being able to make it back in time for McKellen’s party, Jackman turns around, starts the music, and leads the entire crowd to sing “Happy Birthday” at once.

Happy 80th Sir @IanMcKellen … and many more!

Over 30,000 People Sign Petition for McU to Cast Danny DeVito as Wolverine, Because Why the Hell Not

Over 30,000 People Sign Petition for McU to Cast Danny DeVito as Wolverine, Because Why the Hell Not
A petition urging the Marvel Cinematic Universe to cast Danny DeVito in the role of Wolverine has gone viral this week after earning over 30,000 signatures and counting. DeVito, who most recently appeared in Tim Burton’s live-action “Dumbo” remake and continues to star as Frank on Fxx’s beloved comedy series “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” is no stranger to the world of comic book movies as he appeared as the Penguin opposite Michael Keaton and Michelle Pfeiffer in Burton’s “Batman Returns.”

While the petition is the equivalent of a viral joke, it does speak to the larger question of what Disney and Marvel Studios will decide to do with the superheroes that Fox previously owned such as the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Deadpool, and more. Now that Disney owns Fox, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has free reign over many characters they were previously unable to feature in its movies.

Dark Phoenix Cast Hasn’t Been Contacted By Marvel Yet For More Movies

Dark Phoenix is set to bring an end to the 20-year X-Men cinematic franchise, but something that’s arguably overshadowing that is all the interest in where the Children of the Atom go next now that Disney has bought out Fox and Marvel Studios has the rights to the characters. The general feeling is that Kevin Feige will simply reboot them all, but do the cast of the upcoming movie have any clue either way?

ComicBook.com caught up with Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (Storm) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver) and asked if they were aware of what might happen in the future. Specifically, Sheridan was asked if he’d be up for a Cyclops solo film, as Avengers: Endgame writers Markus and McFeely have said they’d like to tackle Scott Summers in the McU.

Unfortunately, Sheridan says he and the rest of the cast haven’t had any talks about this as yet,

Dark Phoenix Director Isn’t Sure How The X-Men Will Fit Into McU

With Dark Phoenix edging towards its release date on June 7th, buzz has been tempered by the multiple behind-the-scenes problems and tepid reactions to the latest installment in the X-Men franchise. To make matters worse, the film comes at the end of the series as it’s existed at 20th Century Fox since the early 2000s. The similarly-troubled New Mutants will be the thirteenth and final film in the Fox-owned take on the Marvel comics.

Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg recently sat down with ComicBook.com and gave his opinion on what the likely transfer of Marvel’s mutant characters into the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe could look like. He was fairly frank about what the next steps are for a series as well, as he’s been closely involved in as far back as 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand.

“The easy answer is, no, I don’t know the answer.

New X-men: Dark Phoenix Clip Features Quicksilver Saving a Team of Astronauts in Space

We’ve got a new clip from X-Men: Dark Phoenix to share with you today, and it puts the focus on Quicksilver (Evan Peters). The clip show the X-Men team racketing into space to save a group of astronauts from being killed by what they think is a solar flare.

Once in space, Quicksilver makes his way into the space shuttle thanks to Night Crawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and uses his mutant power of speed to save the astronauts and get them back onto the X-Men’s ship, which now has the ability to travel into space.

It’s a pretty fun scene. I saw a longer clip of this sequence earlier this year at CinemaCon, and I liked it. My expectations for this move are pretty low, but I hope that it ends up exceeding them.

In Dark Phoenix, the X-men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own,

Here’s How Danny DeVito Could Look As The McU’s Wolverine

A couple days ago, we reported that the latest fanatical petition to hit Change.org asked that Marvel Studios consider It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Danny DeVito to play Wolverine, should the character ever make an appearance in the McU. As ridiculous a concept that may seem, it’s gaining a lot of traction.

Since our initial article, user Ring Arius’ call for action has gained nearly 20,000 more signatures, coming in for a total of over 25,000 (at the time of writing). Though there’s more than likely zero chance that this could ever happen – as is the case with most of these viral bickering circles – it’s still amazing to think how many people’s interest this petition has caught.

One of those people looks to have been talented artist BossLogic, who took to Twitter this afternoon to offer his rendition on what the former Penguin could look

‘Dark Phoenix’ Clips Show Jessica Chastain & Sophie Turner Discuss Being Evil & Quicksilver Doing The Only Thing He Does

Believe it or not, we are just over two weeks away from a new “X-Men” film, with “Dark Phoenix” on the horizon. Remember when the Fox superhero films used to be an event? Now, if “Deadpool” doesn’t appear in the title, audiences generally couldn’t care less. But alas, the show must go on, and with “Dark Phoenix,” the long 20-year history of X-films comes to its culmination.

It’s a question that has been addressed on and off in comic books almost since superheroes first came on the scene: what would happen if someone like Superman, ostensibly a godlike being sent to Earth to protect humankind, actually ended up being bad instead?

The idea has been approached in ways both direct and indirect, from an evil Superman introduced in the comics 55 years ago to a sort of drunk-and-disorderly version of Kal-El in 1983’s execrable Superman III. More recently, the 2003 comic book arc Red Son proposed what might happen if Superman landed in a field in Ukraine instead of Kansas, bringing up the question of “nature vs. nurture.” We’ve seen it with other superheroes as well, from Batman to Captain America (the upcoming Dark Phoenix also examines similar territory), but

Fandango Survey: ‘Spider-Man’, ‘Rocketman’ & ‘Godzilla’ Are Summer’s Most-Anticipated Films

Sony’s Columbia Pictures has the most anticipated movie of the summer in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which picks up the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the wake of grim events depicted in the mega-hit Avengers: Endgame. That’s according to a new fan survey by Fandango that asked fans which films they planned to see on the big screen between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend.

The Elton John biopic Rocketman was the second most-anticipated release within that window, according to Fandango, the digital network that connects moviegoers to movies. The rest of the Top 10 most-anticipated summer releases were rounded out by Godzilla King of the Monsters, Dark Phoenix, The Lion King, Toy Story 4, Men in Black: International, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Aladdin, and The Secret Life of Pets 2.

More than 2,000 fans were polled in the survey, which concluded Monday. After sizing up the results,

Since the end is here, we’ve compiled theoretical endings that could be seen. For this list, we haven’t considered the most likely scenarios, instead of focusing on those endings that fans would find most satisfying. Chances are, these won’t turn out be the actual ending of Dark Phoenix, but they do make sense in their own way and would satisfy a significant chunk of the fanbase.

Sophie Turner: "S Moda"

Take a look at new images of actress Sophie Turner aka 'Sansa Stark' in "Game of Thrones" posing for the June 2019 issue of "S Moda", wearing Louis Vuitton, Kenzo, Longchamp and a whole lot more:

"I learn something new everyday about myself as an actor, my capabilities, how far I can stretch myself, throw out emotions I never knew I had," said Turner who also stars as 'Jean Grey' in the feature "Dark Phoenix".

"I don't really have a process. I'm very much an in-the-moment actress. I suppose I just kind of wing it because I feel that as long as I know my character, I should be able to be spontaneous on set.

"You've got to be happy when you play a sad character; otherwise, you just get depressed. Make your real life as fun as possible.
