Sara -a young refugee on the run- befriends a young lost dragon, and teams up with a nerd and do battle with school administrators, the police, and gangs of bullies as their attempt to return the dragon becomes the adventure of a lifetime.

Christmas is just around the corner in the little village of Borington. Nerdy Mortimer, happy to be on break from school and his less-than-understanding schoolmates, is trying to increase his popularity with his mostly ill-fated YouTube posts. Meanwhile, young refugee girl Sara--afraid she must leave the only country she has ever known and be forced back to a country she's never seen- is hiding from everybody. No friends, no family, just her little gnome dolls that she keeps as her only companions. But everything changes one morning when an animal crashes into the very home where Sara is hiding. This is no woodland creature, but a young dragon who,much like Sara herself, is all alone in the world trying to find his way to where he belongs. Another chance encounter introduces Mortimer into the situation. Can these three lost souls help one another during this magical Christmas and give one another the love and support to find their way through bullies, Christmas festivals, cops, soldiers (and flaming dragon poop) to have homes for Christmas?—Anonymous

"Never to be seen, never to be taken and never to get to know anyone," she tells herself as she hides from the police and breaks into vacant houses to find food and warmth. Everything is turned upside-down when a flaming dragon crash lands in the house where she is going to celebrate Christmas. She is forced to ask for help from neighbor Mortimer, who dreams of becoming a YouTube star. Together they decide to help the dragon to its home before anyone finds out. 11-year-old Sara dreads Christmas. Living in hiding, orphaned and alone, her mantra is "Never get to know anyone. Always be invisible!" One night she breaks into an empty house whose residents are on holiday--a perfect place to celebrate Christmas all alone. Then she discovers a baby dragon in the garage. A 10-year-old neighbor, Mortimer, is surprised to discover them in the house when he comes to feed the goldfish. Mortimer, who finds making friends difficult, deals with his loneliness through social media. Sara and Mortimer are forced to become cooperating buddies to save the baby dragon from the local dragon hunter, the police, and TV reporters.
