A thoughtful meditative piece
21 February 2021 | by CodysignoreSee all my reviews

Alice Fades Away is a film filled with pregnant moments of silence and meditation, allowing the viewer too drift along with the characters or insert their own emotions into each individual. Led by an incredible performance by Ashley Shelton, Alice Fades Away is a poem of dread and emotion; filled with fantastic themes of legacy and decency. As a parent, one could only hope to do your best in shaping a human being into something good and pure. Alice (Shelton) pulls Logan away from what seems like a crime ridden/vile family to save him from what could be a violent future. The piece its self feels like a tug of war for Logan's "soul." The outcome appears to be on the eye of the beholder. Logan recites his hope to be like his father. Alice explains to the "farm" her hope for Logan to be anything else. Your own moral code and desires decides the end of that conversation. All characters are Grey, but all of that rings true for life. To put yourself in the shoes of James, (William Sadler) you can find yourself digging into your own thoughts of legacy and its ruin. There is no perfect in this world and one could only hope to be someone decent and to raise your own children with that same desire and hope. All of these themes rang true to me and viewing the piece with a deeper lens and active audience, I believe that most people can find something in this piece to ruminate on.
