Sex & Nudity

  • The film opens with a scene of a man and woman having sex. There is brief thrusting but they stop and pull the covers up. You do see her nipples and his nipples.
  • A woman is shown coming out the shower being questioned by police. She is in underwear and she covers her chest with her arms. Cleavage and side breast is shown.
  • A woman is treated in an objectifying and demeaning manner: While bound and gagged in a van, she indicates that she has to urinate. One of her kidnappers takes a knife and cuts off her leggings and underwear, and puts her underwear between her legs. Her bare buttocks Is briefly shown. Later, the woman is forced to crawl out of the van, still naked from the waist down, and once again, her bare buttocks can be seen.

Violence & Gore

  • Multiple gunshot wounds with a varying degree of damage. Most of the violence occurs during the final 40 minutes.
  • A dead man gets disemboweled. His intestines are shown being removed. Quite graphic.
  • A woman and two men are shot in the head (blood spurts).
  • A criminal shoots a cashier worker and a bystander at a shop. Blood visible.
  • A woman is shot in her hands. A couple of her fingers and part of her other hand is missing. She is then shot in the head (we see her head essentially explode as it is shot). It is brief but extremely graphic.
  • A man is threatened with castration. Later, he is quickly seen from afar lying down with his pants down and blood soaking through his boxer briefs underwear strongly implying he was castrated.
  • A man is shot in both of his feet and is later shot in the upper body, killing him.
  • A man is shot in the chest multiple times.
  • A man hits a woman in the face with the handle of a knife.
  • A woman is shot in the head at point blank range. The scene is dark, but part of her head can be seen missing.
  • A man holds a knife near the eye of a blindfolded woman and threatens to remove her eyeball. The tip of the knife causes the woman to bleed from her eye.

Profanity

  • 11 uses of "f*ck, 19 uses of "sh*t", 15 uses of "n*gger", 3 uses of "damn"/"g*ddamn", 5 of "ass", 1 of "c*ck", 2 uses of "f*ggot", 2 of "piss", 2 of "prick", 6 religious exclamations, and 5 uses of "ANCHOVIES!"

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Wine is drank at a table in one scene.
  • A getaway driver is seen smoking a cigarette, so the older cop lights one and smokes it while driving.
  • Mel Gibson's character smokes throughout the film

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A lot of blood shown, and bodies being disemboweled. Some stories within that create sadness in the situation.

  • The final 40 minutes of the film are especially violent and brutal.
  • A woman is gruesomely murdered by gunfire after establishing that it is her first day back to work after having a baby. The emotional impact of her death is even more intense from the prior scenes of her saying goodbye to her husband and child at home.
