Delusional religious fanatic Michael Ryan indoctrinated his son in the cult of the Followers of Yahweh, and uses his authority as parent to make his teenage son a criminal and a thug in enforcing the cult's violent beliefs. Michael soon declares he is King of Israel, Yahweh himself, and commands his followers, including his son, to commit atrocious acts of violence and murder in his power induced fantasy. Eventually the group is caught by the police and Michael is sentenced to the punishment appropriate for a madman, while his son is left to pick up the pieces of his life while in prison. A fellow inmate, a black prisoner helps him make sense of the false ideology his father subjected him to, and come to peace with his terrible upbringing and the truth of his father's madness. Dennis tells his story and upon his early release from prison commits his life to being a good father and husband, and living his new lease on life in a way most opposite to his father's to prove to the world ...
