In the year 2040 in a reality where Hillary won the 2016 election, an intrepid journalist exploits a family connection to infiltrate the isolationist nation of The Independent Republic of Texas on the 22nd anniversary of its secession from the United States. While trying to prevent her young half-sisters from becoming property she inadvertently starts a revolution.

I was fortunate to be asked to watch the proof-of-concept for the pilot and I found it intriguing. Having been born and raised in Texas (and later "escaped"), some of this hit far too close to home in a fun and clever way. Clearly, Mr. Morales has thought deeply about crafting a story that will entertain and enlighten and will ultimately take us on a fun and thoughtful journey. Given the current political climate in the U.S. and the uncertainty of the coming years, this series is timely and will surely be provocative. I am looking forward to enjoying the entire series!
