Natasha is a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. She is not the type of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when her family is twelve hours away from being deported. Falling in love with him will not be her story. Daniel has always been the good son, the good student, living up to his parents' high expectations. Never a poet. Or a dreamer. I have to compare this to the book right here. And the book was 12x better. This movie ruined a perfectly good book. Just changed and left out things that were important to the plot, making the movie a simple romance when it could have been SO MUCH MORE. I wanted Ponytail Daniel. Did I get him? NO. The ending in the book was beautiful, what did we get here? An oh-let's-end-the-movie-now kind of ending. Sure, go watch this if you want to waste 2 hours of your life, because you have no life. Man, the movie had such potential to be better.
