Will 'Creed II's' Russian Villain Attract Russian Trolls?

Will 'Creed II's' Russian Villain Attract Russian Trolls?
If Star Wars: The Last Jedi courted Russian trolls wishing to sow dissent in the U.S. — as recently suggested in a USC academic paper — then what social media wrath can Creed II expect?

After all, the MGM film pits American boxer Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) against Russian pugilist Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu). And if Viktor is anything like his father, Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren, reprising his role from 1985's Rocky IV), the Russians won't come off as good sports. If MGM has a plan to counter Russian trolls, it's being more tight-lipped than the Mueller ...

Sylvester Stallone Shows Us His Man Cave In New Rambo 5 Pic

Testosterone levels run high for the production of the upcoming Rambo 5, with a new photo from Sylvester Stallone’s Instagram giving us our first glimpse at the ‘80s action hero’s “man cave.”

Unlike most man caves, though, this room doesn’t consist of an Xbox, a mini-fridge, and a recliner chair facing the TV, but rather an assortment of armaments, including a row of rifles and what appears to be a machine gun. Stallone, meanwhile, is wielding Rambo’s trademark knife with a slightly melancholic look on his face.

For these last few weeks, life has proven to be one big man cave for the actor, who last month posted a clip of his time spent bulking up at the gym in preparation for returning to one of his most famous roles. Last week, we even saw him dressed in full cowboy attire and riding horseback in the film’s first photos.

Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Black Folklore’ Comments Are an Opportunity to Explain Its History

  • Indiewire
Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Black Folklore’ Comments Are an Opportunity to Explain Its History
As Vanity Fair’s cover profile, Michael B. Jordan provoked a storm of criticism with one line: “We don’t have any mythology, black mythology, or folklore. …Creating our own mythology is very important because … You help people dream.” Jordan likely knows that black folkore has a very long, rich history. It’s quite possible he had a more specific point in mind — frustrations over the lack of film and TV content that exploits black folklore — but the interviewer doesn’t make it explicitly clear with a follow-up question, leaving many to assume that the “Creed II” star meant exactly what he said.

The actor has yet to make a public statement responding to the criticism, and he declined to comment for this story. However, rather than pillory Jordan over what he may or may not have meant, here’s a brief overview of black folklore to serve as introduction for the uninitiated.

Chris Hemsworth Shares New Men In Black Set Pic For Tessa Thompson’s Birthday

With last year’s Thor: Ragnarok, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson exhibited some strong comedic chemistry that apparently impressed someone at Sony enough to give these two a film to themselves. That film’s the next Men in Black movie, and based on the various set photos we’ve been seeing ever since production started on the sci-fi sequel, it looks like Hemsworth and Thompson get on pretty well behind the camera, too.

Just last Wednesday, for instance, Thompson celebrated her 35th birthday, and so Hemsworth took to Instagram with a new image of the duo in their Men in Black suits, captioning the photo with the message:

Christian Bale Works Some Movie Magic As He Transforms Into Dick Cheney In The 'Vice' Trailer

With almost every film that he makes, Christian Bale is proving himself to be this generation's Robert De Niro, truly transforming himself in any way that the part demands, whether it's becoming anorexic for The Machinist, buffing up to play the Dark Knight in Batman Begins or, now, truly making himself over in the image of former Vice President of the United States Dick Cheney in Vice. The film, which comes from writer-director Adam McKay (The Big Short), is described by Wikipedia as a comedy drama that is supposed to follow Cheney "in his political rise to become the most powerful Vice President in America's history." Besides Christian, it also stars Amy Adams (a five-time Academy Award nominee) as Dick's wife, Lynne; Steve Carrell as former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Bill Pullman as Nelson Rockefeller, and Sam Rockwell, who, like Christian, is uncanny in his portrayal of former president George W. Bush.

Stallone Returns in First Rambo 5 Set Photos as a Badass Cowboy

Stallone Returns in First Rambo 5 Set Photos as a Badass Cowboy
Rambo 5 just began shooting only hours ago, and damn if the first set photos don't have us excited. Sylvester Stallone is returning to his iconic role, and this time he's putting a slightly different spin on the character. The big reveal shows him on his ranch, duded up like a badass cowboy. Wearing a signature hat and Wester shirt, the actor can be seen pulling on some cow wrangling gloves and sporting leather chaps. About the first image, which Sly shared himself, he says this.

"Tonight we start filming...!"

He doesn't immediately come right out and say what he's shooting, and a cursory look might point to the next great Western. But the second image shared by Stallone all but confirms we'll see his legendary freedom fighter back in action. Seen sitting on top of a horse as he makes his way across a heavily wooded area, Sly offers these words.

Michael B. Jordan Outlines His Plan to Take Over Hollywood

Michael B. Jordan Outlines His Plan to Take Over Hollywood
It's no coincidence that Michael B. Jordan stars in two of the buzziest films of the year. First came Black Panther, the $1.3 billion blockbuster from Marvel Studios that re-teamed Jordan with his Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler. Next comes Creed II (in theaters Nov. 21), the eighth installment in the Rocky franchise and Jordan's second time taking the lead role. Now, the 31-year-old actor is gracing the cover of Vanity Fair for the second time in 2018, after having joined Harrison Ford, Gal Gadot, Tom Hanks, Oprah Winfrey and other power players in February for the cover of the magazine's annual Hollywood Issue. But this time, the actor appears solo, a sure sign that he's "made it."...

Taron Egerton Captures The Magic Of Elton John In The Trailer For 'Rocketman'

It is so refreshing the hear the phrase "Rocketman" and have it not connected to North Korea. Instead, it's the name of the biopic of Sir Elton John, featuring actor Taron Egerton in the title role, and co-starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Jamie Bell. One of its producers is Matthew Vaughn, who directed Taron in the two Kingsman films, and sitting in the director's chair is Dexter Fletcher, who guided him through Eddie the Eagle. Appearing on the UK's Jonathan Ross Show, Taron more or less announced the project — which covers the earlier days of Elton's career — commenting, "I've been so, so excited about this. Elton's production company and Matthew Vaughn's production company are planning, a musical fantasy — not quite a biopic — about the early years of Elton John. It's going to feature his songs, and I'm gonna do the old acting and singing. As far as I'm aware the

Why Creed II appears to be ticking the right boxes

Tom Jolliffe on why Creed II looks like it could match, or even surpass the previous film…

The new Creed II trailer dropped just a matter of days ago. The first trailer looked good. The second looks great. We’re not seeing anything ground breaking here, but there are a number of things the trailer suggests, will hold the film in good stead.

The first Creed was a bolt from the blue really. It had been on the horizon of course, but no one really expected it to turn out as well as it did, nor gather attention from the Academy Awards (Sylvester Stallone receiving a nomination as Best Supporting Actor). It may have retreaded what we’d seen way back when Sylvester Stallone first brought Rocky to the screen, but it felt like a fresh, modern and timely take. It kickstarted director Ryan Coogler’s ascension to the cream of the directing crop.

Creed II Director Shares Rocky Franchise Advice He Got from Ryan Coogler

Creed II Director Shares Rocky Franchise Advice He Got from Ryan Coogler
Ryan Coogler had some good advice for Steven Caple Jr. before he stepped up to direct Creed 2. Coogler and Caple Jr. are good friends, having attended University of Southern California's film school together, and Caple Jr. needed to know why the Black Panther director wasn't coming back for the sequel, which led to Coogler offering up some advice before getting in on the Rocky franchise. The second trailer for Creed II was released earlier this week, highlighting the emotional highs and lows of the sequel, which was no accident, according to Caple Jr.

After the success of Creed, Sylvester Stallone and the studio were excited to get working on the sequel as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, Ryan Coogler was not able to return to the director's chair for Creed 2, although he wanted to. Coogler is still an executive producer on the project. Steven Caple Jr. asked Coogler why he
