Ana Lily Amirpour to direct female-fronted Cliffhanger remake

Deadline is reporting that producer Neal Moritz (Fast & Furious) is teaming with director Ana Lily Amirpour for a female-led remake of the 1993 Sylvester Stallone action adventure film Cliffhanger.

Directed by Renny Harlin, the original movie saw Sly playing a haunted mountaineer and rescue ranger who finds himself pitted against a gang of thieves who are looking to recover their $100 million stash from the U.S. Treasury after a plane crash in the Rocky Mountains.

“I instantly knew the elements of the story I wanted to tell,” said Amirpour, who has already spent twelve months planning the movie. “There’s a special place in my heart for an action-survival movie. I’ve always been attracted to the theme of mountain climbers who, like filmmakers, have a certain madness to them. I love genre and fantasy and in this type of survival film you’re playing with real fear.”

Cliffhanger Female-Led Reboot of Stallone Movie in the Works

Joseph Baxter May 8, 2019

Sylvester Stallone’s 1993 actioner, Cliffhanger, is getting a female-fronted reboot, with a key Fast & Furious franchise producer onboard.

Cliffhanger may not be widely seen as an iconic Sylvester Stallone actioner, but the high-altitude intensity of the Renny Harlin-directed 1993 blockbuster reaped respectable box office rewards, banking $255 million worldwide off a $70 million budget – more than the $189 million made from Sly's then-recent franchise mainstay in 1988’s Rambo III, and certainly more than the $119.9 million earned by 1990 dud Rocky V. Indeed, Cliffhanger has its fans, notably Fast & Furious film franchise producer Neal Moritz, who’s now spearheading a female-fronted reboot effort.

Yes, Hollywood’s insatiable reboot rampage has placed its grip on Cliffhanger, which Moritz is bringing to the table with a gender-swapped twist in the protagonist department, according to Deadline. Set to occupy the director’s chair will be Ana Lily Amirpour, who, working off a script

Although Mattel's Masters of the Universe franchise has thrived for decades thanks to toys, animated series, comics, video-games, and more, there has surprisingly only been one live-action feature-film in all that time, 1987's Masters Of The Universe which starred Dolph Lundgren (Creed II) as He-Man. Sylvester Stallone says Rambo V: Last Blood is “coming together beautifully”

Having brought the curtain down on his role as Rocky Balboa with last year’s Creed II, Sylvester Stallone will be saying goodbye to his other iconic character later this year with the release of Rambo V: Last Blood.

Sharing a post to Instagram, Stallone has provided an update on post-production on the new film, stating that Last Blood “is just coming together beautifully” and that they have now screened the movie for studio Lionsgate.

“I just want to talk about something that I think is really exciting. Usually when you’re in the editing process of a film, it can be painful. What you thought was great is not so great. It’s kind of like going to the dentist and having your teeth pulled with no Novocain. Get the picture?

“But this last Rambo is just coming together beautifully. Today we’re going to screen it for the

Michael B. Jordan to play 400 year old man in Methusaleh

You could never accuse Michael B. Jordan of resting on his laurels. Fresh off the back of a stellar 2018, which saw him become a Thanos rivaling villain of depth with Black Panther‘s Killmonger, and continue the Rocky legacy with the fantastic Creed II, Deadline is reporting that he has added another project to his increasingly crowded slate, in the form of the long-gestating Methusaleh.

According to the report, the Warner Bros. project has been bouncing around in development limbo for a decade-or-so, with Tom Cruise attached to star. Should Jordan be the actor to finally carry Methusaleh to the big-screen, he will play a man who has lived for 400 years, without showing any signs of ageing. In his four centuries on Earth he has acquired vast intellectual knowledge, multiple languages, a grasp of the sciences, and perhaps more importantly for a story that Deadline say has “a Highlander-like mythology

Dolph Lundgren Vs. Zombies in Trailer for the Upcoming Thriller Dead Trigger

We’ve got another zombie movie coming out called Dead Trigger, but what makes this one different from all the others is the fact that it stars Dolph Lundgren!

It’s been great seeing Lundgren appear in some recent mainstream movies, but it’s still always fun to see stars in these smaller, lower budget projects. In this one we get to see him blow away zombies. Here’s the synopsis for Dead Trigger:

A mysterious virus has killed billions and turned many others into bloodthirsty zombies. Unable to stop the virus, the government develops a video game, "Dead Trigger," that mirrors the terrifying events that curse the world.

Dead Trigger was co-directed by Mike Cuff and Scott Windhauser (Cops and Robbers). While this doesn’t look like it’s going to be a good movie, it still will probably be fun to watch.

The movie will be released on May 3rd.
