Brightburn director David Yarovesky considers DC Studios co-head James Gunn a mentor and would be ecstatic to join the fledgling Dcu under TheSuicide Squad and Superman director's stewardship. The filmmaker would also love to make a Brightburn sequel.

Yarovesky revealed his intentions in an interview with ScreenRant. "Am I trying to get into the DC world? Yeah," he declared. "I mean, if the right thing came along. It's just about if the right thing comes along. I'd love to work with James again. He's my mentor. I adore James, and he has been incredible to me. That's really what it is–finding that right thing. But it could happen." The director is thrilled Gunn is helming Superman, which hits theaters this July. He compared the film to Brightburn, essentially a dark interpretation of the Man of Steel's tale.

Peacemaker premiered in 2022 and this year, Season 2 will follow after a long break late this summer. The TV series will carry over from the Dceu to the new Dcu.

The John Cena-led series, which is a spinoff of The Suicide Squad and one of the only projects to have straddled the Dceu and Dcu, is set to premiere Season 2 in August, and there are many fans wondering how the transition will impact the series.

In recent years, Ketchup has also been behind the releases of Weekend in Taipei, Goodrich, Hellboy: The Crooked Man, Memory, Ferrari, Hypnotic, and Bushwick.

The trade does note that the deal could still fall apart, but things are progressing in the right direction for now. If/when the deal is finalized, expect to see Coyote vs. Acme hit theaters sometime in 2026.

Superman is one of the year's most highly anticipated movies, so it's not exactly surprising to see so much buzz - both positive and negative - surrounding James Gunn's long-awaited reboot.

Test screenings have dominated the conversation in recent weeks and, in the latest edition of his newsletter, Jeff Sneider shared a few more details.

Chief among them is that he's heard Superman's current runtime is roughly 140 minutes. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was Gunn's longest movie at 150 minutes, while his Dceu debut, The Suicide Squad, was 132 minutes.

"I spoke to someone this weekend who has seen 'Superman,' and they really liked it," the insider explained. "They said David Corenswet delivers as the Man of Steel and that the 'jokey moments' I mentioned on my podcast, 'The Hot Mic,' were initially viewed out of context, but worked much better within the flow of the edit.

In a new report from The InSneider the outlet claims that the upcoming Superman film with David Corenswet currently has a runtime of 2 hours and 2 minutes. This would make Gunn's Superman movie the shortest of the hero's roster since the sequels to the Christopher Reeve films. At the time of this story's publication, DC Studios has not commented on the Superman runtime report.

In recent months, Gormican’s Anaconda reboot, which takes a meta approach, has been making its way through production with a cast that includes Jack Black (School of Rock), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Thandiwe Newton (Westworld), Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), Steve Zahn (Joy Ride), Selton Mello (Bury Your Dead), and Ione Skye (Zodiac). Now, Rudd has given an interview where he describes the film as a “totally unique” meta comedy.

James Gunn has a huge responsibility on his shoulders. The co-CEO of DCU Studios has the task of rejuvenating DC’s universe of live-action adaptations, a decision that was imperative after the lackluster performance of the Dceu.

To his advantage, Gunn has a lot of experience. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 director knows a thing or two about turning around movies that are going sideways (he did a fantastic job with The Suicide Squad). Many back him to change the fortune of an entire universe.

Gunn is believed to be focusing primarily on the creative side of the Dcu and, provided nothing goes disastrously wrong, is expected to remain in his first executive role for anywhere up to a decade. The filmmaker has already worked on Creature Commandos and Peacemaker season 2 and is currently in post-production on Superman.

According to a new report from Puck, Gunn is one of many industry figures who have hybrid deals covering their creative and executive duties. In Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige's case, for example, he's likely paid separately for his President and executive producer positions.

Gunn, meanwhile, looks set to score as many as three paydays for his work on Superman.

David Dastmalchian is set to guest star on Showtime’s “Dexter: Resurrection,” which began production in January and is slated to premiere this summer on Paramount+.

The actor, whose best known for his roles in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” and “The Dark Knight,” will portray a character named Gareth. Specific details about the role were not disclosed.

Dastmalchian’s other credits include “The Suicide Squad,” “Dune: Part One,” “The Last Voyage of the Demeter” and “Late Night with the Devil.” He’ll be seen next in Apple TV+’s “Murderbot” series premiering this May, and “Life of Chuck” debuting in June.

Longtime James Gunn collaborator Nathan Fillion is set to make his Dcu debut as Guy Gardner in The Suicide Squad director's Superman reboot, and it sounds like this first big-screen take on the Green Lantern is going to stick pretty closely to his prickly comic book counterpart.

While speaking to TV Line about his long-running series, The Rookie, Fillion shared some new details on his interpretation of Gardner.

"He's a jerk!," said the actor when asked what separates Guy from his fellow ring-slinging heroes. "What's important to know is, you don't have to be good to be a Green Lantern; you just have to be fearless. So Guy Gardner is fearless, and he is not very good. He's not nice, which is very freeing as an actor because you just think to yourself, what is the most selfish, self-serving thing I can do in this moment? And that's the answer.

Years after its announcement, the live-action Duke Nukem filmadaptation has received an optimistic, if not vague, update.

In 2018, John Cena was confirmed to star in a film adaptation of the raunchy Duke Nukem video game franchise. While the project has been in limbo for quite some time, producer Brad Fuller gave a vague but optimistic update to Screen Rant. During the South by Southwest film festival (SXSW), Fuller mostly spoke about his upcoming film The Astronaut but also gave a long-awaited update on Duke Nukem.

James Gunn has become a name synonymous with the superhero genre, and while he's done other projects outside of the comic book movies - both before and since his big break with the first Guardians of the Galaxy flick - you can't deny that superheroes are his bread and butter. When it debuted in 2008, "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" reintroduced a more lighthearted tone to the Dark Knight's animated escapades. Ever since "Batman: The Animated Series" attained legendary status with its mature storylines and alluringly dark aesthetic, Batman cartoons had tried somewhat to emulate that approach. But "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" diverged, using a more comedic tone to appeal to younger audiences and discarding the brooding, noirish elements that had made "B:tas" such a hit.

Based on "The Brave and the Bold" comic series which ran from 1955 to 1983, the show saw Batman teaming up with various and mostly lesser-known DC heroes, with each episode telling a standalone story involving the Dark Knight and his chosen teammate of the week. Zanier characters such as Detective Chimp would show up in this more outlandish show, which also featured more obscure villains including Starro, the main villain in James Gunn's "The Suicide Squad.

As is so often the case, we've now heard good and bad things from Superman's early internal test screenings. It's always best to take chatter like that with a pinch of salt, though we perhaps shouldn't be surprised that the reboot is drawing mixed reviews.

While filmmaker James Gunn has a great track record, the Man of Steel isn't a character it's easy to make relevant in today's world. The hero is viewed as overpowered and old-fashioned by some, meaning even the best Superman movie is unlikely to strike a chord with them.

Peacemaker season 2 is set to premiere on HBO and Max this August and creator James Gunn has just dropped a first official look at Steve Agee as the returning John Economos.

Introduced in 2021's The Suicide Squad, the character has become a firm fan favourite and, after taking on a key supporting role in Peacemaker's first season, made his Dcu debut in Creature Commandos last year. As Amanda Waller's right-hand man, it's unclear what he'll bring to the table when this show returns, especially as Rick Flag Sr. is expected to be calling the shots in A.R.G.U.S.

This is only the second official image from Peacemaker season 2 after Gunn previously teased a mysterious new villain (we've included that at the bottom of this post). DC Stduios has yet to share anything showing Christopher Smith in action, though promo art revealed the anti-hero's new helmet design last year.

When Peacemaker premiered in 2022, its opening theme became an instant hit with fans. According to James Gunn, the show will be changing tunes in Season 2.

Speaking at a press event (via Collider), Gunn revealed that Season 2 would feature a completely new song. "I don't know when they're going to see it," he said. "I was talking about [it] the other day because, one, it was really fun in the first [season]. One of the things is, we totally kept that from the public until the first episode aired, and it flipped people out, which was the most fun about it. Now people know it's coming, so it's not as exciting in that respect."

With James Gunn’s Superman set to hit theaters in July, the conversation around the film has taken an unexpected turn. As the release nears, questions about how the movie fits into today’s cultural landscape—especially under the second Trump administration—are being raised. When asked about what makes his version of Superman relevant to the current moment, Gunn had a surprising response.

DC co-bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran were asked such at Friday’s press day for the studio in which they provided an update on the projects they announced two years ago.

“I’d quit,” exclaimed Gunn. “I’m being serious! I’m not going to do this unless I think we’re doing good stuff that’s cool, that works.”

Cooling down from the blunt statement, the Superman filmmaker specified, “I’m not saying I’m going to quit, I’m not damning DC.” As a filmmaker leading a motion picture label, Gunn is an anomaly among studio bosses in town.

“We’re very deliberate in our output,” Safran said. “We’re not looking to make five movies a year and five series.

At the end of January 2023, DC Studios gathered select members of the press and announced plans for a Dcu slate dubbed "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters." Many fans pointed out the similarities to Warner Bros.'s ill-fated 11-movie Dceu slate reveal in 2014 and, unfortunately, some of these Dcu projects aren't moving along as well as hoped.

Talking to press, co-ceo Peter Safran said of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker spin-off Waller, "We’ve taken a couple of cracks at it but still haven’t been able land. Waller has been a bumpy road."

The Authority, meanwhile, is "not the furthest along" according to James Gunn and, subsequently, "hasn't been made much [of] a priority." Safran explained, "It is a very big movie, if you’re going to do it properly. Frank Grillo voiced the character in the recent Creature Commandos animated series, and will make his live-action debut in James Gunn's Superman before returning for the second season of Peacemaker. Now, Mttsh is reporting that Flag will also be a part of the upcoming Waller series.

This wouldn't really be much of a surprise given Flag's close association with Waller, but it does obviously suggest that he will survive the events of Peacemaker season 2 and his run-in with John Cena's Christopher Smith.
