Trivia

The ADT serviceman from Wichita Kansas at the beginning of the episode is based after serial killer Dennis Rader, a.k.a. the BTK killer. See more »

Goofs

FBI agents Groff and McCallany give their inmate interviewee (Monte Rissel) a 6-pack of Big Red soda. When Rissel opens a can, it has a stay-on-tab, not common until the early or mid 1980s. In the 1970s it almost certainly would have been a pull-tab (aka ring-pull) can. See more »

Quotes

[first lines]
Housewife: Oh! I didn't realize you were still in the house.
ADT Serviceman: I'm sorry to startle you. Here's the estimate. House looks good. Can't think you need much beyond door and window sensors. I included in the cost three keypads.
Housewife: My husband wondered, would you ever just sell the stickers for the windows and a sign for the front lawn?
ADT Serviceman: Signs come with the sensors, I'm afraid.
Housewife: Of course they do. That makes sense.

The FBI as a Roadblock
20 October 2017 | by HitchcocSee all my reviews

First of all, who is that guy that we see at the start of every episode? What is he up to? We then transition into the story. The boys continue to investigate Monte Rissell, who killed five women in cold blood. He is a poster child for his own victimization. They have come upon a case of a young blonde woman in a small town who was brutally murdered. Their methods lead them to a man, a welder, who was taken with the young woman. As is their wont, they leave further investigation to the locals. As a viewer, this is a bit frustrating, but the analysis that we hear is very engaging. We also get to know more about Bill. He is the adoptive father of a seemingly severely autistic little boy. There is serious tension between him and his wife. The well-known psychologist who works with them quizzes them on why they can't throw their entire weight into the fray. It leads to a mixed blessing when it comes to funding. Along with the support comes great responsibility. Once again, well done.
