On re-watching the entire series run of "The Big Bang Theory", with new information on Sheldon's upbringing via the "origin story" prequel series "Young Sheldon", some of the later TBBT running gags and story arcs become more fleshed out, and the reasonings for some of Sheldon's reasoning, behaviour and eccentricities makes more sense. One of the more intriguing ones with hindsight is how Sheldon and Penny eventually bonded over the run of the TBBT series. It looks like it has similar parallels with young Sheldon's surprisingly close sibling relationship with his sassy twin sister Missy, and how he treats both Penny and (older) Missy, in both series. Up to season 2 of "Young Sheldon" we see Sheldon is actually close to Missy, a bond he seemingly would later repeat with Penny, as he can relate to Penny via his own twin Missy, possibly as an unintentional sibling substitute friend.

At least one episode opening per season is slightly different from the usual opening of Sheldon walking up, taking a superhero stance, then moving over slightly as a cow approaches. In season one, a tumbleweed rolls by, making him jump out of the way. In season two, the camera does a 360 around him.

Created to inspire children in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics the grant has given nineteen selected public schools more than $600,000 in two year grants with the option to submit for continuation grants after the two year period. Chuck Lorre, whose foundation is one of the sponsors of the grant stated that, "to those of us involved in making it, Young Sheldon is more than a television series. At its heart, it's a story about potential. When the education of a child is supported, there is no limit to what that child might eventually achieve."
