Ragnar has a private conversation with Ivar and asks his son to revenge his death attacking Wessex with no mercy and killing King Ecbert. Ragnar gives Athelstan's crucifix to Alfred and discloses to King Ecbert that Athelstan chose Christ before dying. Ragnar is transported in a cage to Northumbria and delivered to King Aelle who tortures him before killing him in a pit full of snakes. Ivar returns to Kattegat and his brothers tell him that Lagherta killed their mother.
