Trivia

Although not mentioned in the episode, Cunanan was known to emulate the characters of Bret Easton Ellis' novel 'Less Than Zero.' As a nod, the Bangles' cover of 'A Hazy Shade of Winter' from the film adaptation of the novel is played when teenage Andrew is first seen arriving at Bishops. See more »

American Crime Story

The Assassination Of Gianni Versace

Creator/Destroyer

American Crime Story has always been a character driven feature and hence has to excel on execution which it does being a Ryan Murphy show. And also since the plot relies upon facts and figures, the creators depend a lot on the depiction of their characters which inherently results into a wise casting of good actors making it rich in that department.

The second season that follows up the events of The Assassination Of Gianni Versace is; unlike its predecessor low on drama and has a wafer thin plot, and since its character driven it may lead into exhaustion but still the actors like Darren Criss, Edgar Ramirez and Penelope Cruz makes it worth the while along with finely detailed script which shows the sincerity of their work behind the screen.

Depicting the origins of Versace and Cunanan which is like two opposite sides of a coin, is a smart approach for an episode and it works too for the most part of it but unfortunately it fails to create the anticipated impact as they have shuffled different episodes of their lives in a season; it would have been much better if being told chronologically.
