American Crime Story

The Assassination Of Gianni Versace

Ascent

American Crime Story has always been a character driven feature and hence has to excel on execution which it does being a Ryan Murphy show. And also since the plot relies upon facts and figures, the creators depend a lot on the depiction of their characters which inherently results into a wise casting of good actors making it rich in that department.

The second season that follows up the events of The Assassination Of Gianni Versace is; unlike its predecessor low on drama and has a wafer thin plot, and since its character driven it may lead into exhaustion but still the actors like Darren Criss, Edgar Ramirez and Penelope Cruz makes it worth the while along with finely detailed script which shows the sincerity of their work behind the screen.

Ascent being vaguely predictable as the pattern resembles with the earlier episodes still turns out to be the best one, as it scratches some of the deepest emotion of the characters (Donatella's red carpet controversy is projected brilliantly in here) and draws out the best possible outcome from it.
