The year is 1899. The era of the Wild West is beginning to come to an end as the federal government asserts its control over the lawless territories. Realizing their fortunes are fading, the notorious Van der Linde gang led by Dutch plots one last major bank robbery that could set them for life. However, the heist goes awry with several gang members dead or captured; the gang is forced to flee across the country with the law pursuing them. Undeterred, Dutch hopes to pull off one last heist and flee the country. However, each scheme ends in failure in one way or another. Dutch's most trusted lieutenant, Arthur Morgan, sees his loyalty to the gang put to the test as he is forced to come to terms with the changing times. Written by Sam

One of the animals in the game is the opossum, which will famously "play dead" when approached - if the player has auto-aim switched on, Arthur won't aim his weapon at the opossum after it does this (as he thinks it's already dead). See more »

When Arthur first meets Agent Milton, Milton claims he's "seconded to the United States Government". Milton's claim defies the law in 1899, as the Anti-Pinkerton Act was passed in 1893 which prevented the USA government from hiring agents of the agency. See more »

Game of the Year
3 November 2018 | by robertmosconiSee all my reviews

Rockstar Games has 100% out done themselves this time. The controls are phenomenal, the story is reminiscent of GTA V's story, "one last job and we can be done forever". This game is worthy of GOTY and hopefully it wins that. For those saying that the "controls are too clunky", "you have to fight like the devs planned", stop playing because it's not like that at all. The controls again are perf- BEYOND perfect. 10/10 would play the story again. Arthur Morgan is now my new top #1 favorite game character.
