I enjoyed this film, was a IMDB recommendation and was glad I followed through. Only realised at the end that there wasn't a score at all. Slow burn but delivers.

Tense thriller based on real events

Hannes Baumgartner's acclaimed debut is a methodical portrait of toxic masculinity, inspired by the true story of the "midnight murderer" who made head- lines in the 1990s.
In a captivating and unnerving performance, rising Swiss star Max Hubacher (also lead in The Captain) plays Jonas Widmer, one of the leading long- distance runners in Switzerland with an ambition to compete in the Olympics. Despite a difficult childhood and the recent suicide of his brother, Jonas is leading a successful life as a text-book overachiever. However, when Jonas loses his title during a home race, a primordial desire that has long been meticulously and painfully kept at a distance simmers to the surface.

His performance is real seductive. Because you feel his Jonas Widmer , the frustrations, need of love, dependence by other, his fall, step by step, his reduced universe and his too strong connection with the past. It is not only the portrait of a serial killer but a beautiful picture of deep vulnerability , not rare, not surprising. Than, an impressive job.
Hollywood would do it better

Warning: Spoilers
To be straightforward, the film is lame. The story is very interesting and intriguing, but it has been poorly implemented in the movie. The pace of the movie is too slow. Despite the events in it, the story goes very monotonously and the tempo is somehow constant throughout the whole movie. The movie also lacks drama and it needs more energy. I don't mean action movie energy, but the thrill emerging from the plot. Having in mind its story, the film seems to be very quiet and insufficiently intriguing after all.
Hollywood would make a far better movie from a true story such as this one.
