The body of teenager Mia Hinkin is discovered six weeks after her disappearance from the remote farmhouse where she lived with her stern parents Mal and Nell. She was last seen at a music festival where she was perceived arguing with an older man, possibly stable owner Gary Tovey, for whom she occasionally worked. Eastern European migrant pickers from an adjacent farm are also in the frame, but everybody in the area agrees that she was desperate to leave her unhappy home. Vera suspects that somebody she met at the festival was helping her to escape to a happier urban existence and holds the clue to her death, but she cannot dismiss the many neighbouring friends and ex-lover who were keen to help her move away from her miserable rural life, even the younger brother with whom she shared her confidences. The Blanket Mire
4 May 2017 | by Prismark10See all my reviews

We are back to a windswept Northumberland as the body of missing teenager, Mia Hinkin is found. She lived in a remote farmhouse with her strict parents who are hard hit by the loss of their daughter.

Vera investigates with the help of Policeman George Wooten from Missing Persons. Petty soon the suspects are lining up, Mia might had stern parents but she aroused interest from a string of men and looked to escape from her hemmed in life.

The nearby farms are worked on by migrant labourers and Vera wants to makes sure they are legal as well as being potential suspects.

This was an engaging episode because of the wide pool of suspects and it zipped along nicely. I was startled by actor Steve Evets doing a Geordie accent as PC Wooten. He usually does broad Mancunian.
