Karen O'Leary and Mike Minogue ended up playing characters called O'Leary and Minogue in the original film because director Jemaine Clement hadn't come up with any names for their characters, and when Karen O'Leary met him on set he asked her what her character should be called. He decided that her real surname sounded really 'cop' so they decided to use it, and they also decided to use Mike Minogue's surname as well. See more »
