Storyline

In Africa, the lion cub Simba is the pride and joy of his parents King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi. Mufasa prepares Simba to be the next king of the jungle. However, the naive Simba believes in his envious uncle Scar that wants to kill Mufasa and Simba to become the next king. He lures Simba and his friend Nala to go to a forbidden place and they are attacked by hyenas but they are rescued by Mufasa. Then Scar plots another scheme to kill Mufasa and Simba but the cub escapes alive and leaves the kingdom believing he was responsible for the death of his father. Now Scar becomes the king supported by the evil hyenas while Simba grows in a distant land. Sometime later, Nala meets Simba and tells that the kingdom has become a creepy wasteland. Trivia

Visual effects supervisor Rob Legato used a wide variety of Blackmagic Design products to create the virtual production environment for Disney's new version of the classic. PVC's previous article revealed how the new film changed virtual production. With the technology available today, producing a 3D animated feature film doesn't have to be a process of waiting for test animations from an animation team. Visual effects supervisor Rob Legato, an Academy Award winner for films such as "Hugo" and "The Jungle Book," wanted to take the technology to a new level, and create a space where traditional filmmakers could work in a digital environment, using the familiar tools found on live action sets. "The goal wasn't to generate each shot in the computer," said Legato, "but to photograph the digital environment as if it were a real set." See more »

Goofs

Technically a lion wouldn't be able survive on just bugs, no matter how much protein they have. Simba at some point realistically would have become malnourished and may have been forced to eat other animals. See more »

Quotes

Scar: [to mouse] Life's - not fair - is it, my little friend? While some are born to feast - others spend their lives in the dark... begging for scraps. The way I see it, you and I are exactly the same, we both want to find a way out.

I felt nothing.
17 July 2019 | by simonemarcus-64227See all my reviews

For such an emotional original movie, I felt no emotions watching this version. Instead I found myself agitated and frustrated wanting to go home and watch the original. There was clearly something that was lost in the lifelike remake.
