Flabby and turgid
28 August 2017 | by neilpaxmanSee all my reviews

This series promised so much, but has delivered little. The novella and original TV adaptation had pace and shocks aplenty. This extended adaptation is as flabby as Mrs Doubtfire and the shocks such as they are, are signposted crudely. Overlong build ups, unlikely reactions to life threatening events and wooden acting all contribute to a turgid talk fest with tortoise like plot development.

If the makers were looking to ape Walking Dead, it's a big fat fail.

I found myself fast forwarding to see if there was actually going to be any drama.

There wasn't.

Do yourself a favour and watch the original with Thomas Jane and co. There's a reason Frank Darabond is revered in this genre.
