- In part two of this special episode, Clarkson, Hammond and May are tasked with getting Amazon some new, high-quality screensaver photos depicting interesting animals. In order to do this, the three head to Colombia, the most ecologically diverse country on earth, where they elect to do most of their wildlife photography from cars they've picked for the purpose with Clarkson in a Jeep Wrangler, Hammond in a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up and May crammed into a tiny Fiat Panda 4x4. Naturally, their contrasting approaches to buying suitable cars are matched by their contrasting attitudes to photography, none of which are conventional nor especially effective since animals initially prove to be absent or just very good at hiding, leading the hosts on an epic and increasingly challenging trip across one of the most stunning and fascinating countries on earth. This show contains scenes that donkey enthusiasts may find disturbing.
- With one animal checked off their list, the trio continue southwards 200 miles to Bogota to find their next target, a bear. May's exhaust falls off and he tries to overtake lorries on the highway with his Panda, which is hilarious for May and Hammond. Hammond's engine keeps getting overheated. They reach the town of Vila De Levya. Hammond and May cut all of Clarkson's trousers into minis.
The trio go off the road again and Clarkson's jeep goes into a ditch and May has to pull him out as Hammond's truck has gone into 1 wheel drive. Hammond realizes that his half shaft is broken. The trio keep going higher up the mountain and deeper into the jungle. Hammond comes across a massive ditch and drives into it but gets stuck. May and Clarkson build a bridge over Hammond's car to get to the other side. They soon find a river and have to come back and use Hammond's car as a bridge again to cross the ditch. They find another route. Eventually they reach the bear habitat and are able to photograph a live bear in the wild.
After getting their next animal, the presenters make modifications at their overnight spot in Bogotá (Clarkson gets a roof and a mechanized scissor lift for his Jeep and an oxygen tank for his engine, May gets bigger tires for his Panda and a camouflage paint job, Hammond gets a new shaft and a hide to keep him busy during the long waits for the animals to show up), while taking part in a football match with their Colombian fixers (team Grand Tour lost 6-2). But soon the modifications create problems. May's larger tires bore a hole in the fuel pipe and leaks fuel. Clarkson's roof and lift make a rattling noise which he can't stop.
Heading south, they soon swap jungles for the mountains, higher altitudes (16000 feet), and a hailstorm to find their condor, before eventually discovering that their final animal they seek will not be a difficult search. On their way, they get some photo-shopped shots of attracting hummingbirds by putting plastic flowers in their mouths. As the trio pass 14000 feet, their engines are not getting enough oxygen and start to struggle. Clarkson turns on the oxygen for his engine. Eventually they reach their volcano. May has a dead battery, while Hammond's truck boils over. They reach their vantage point somehow. Hammond creates a racket with his cooking, while May makes duck calls with his PA system. But a storm approached, and the trio try to outrun it, but are beaten down by hails. Next day, Hammond resorts to taking pictures of a dead condor.
Then Clarkson finds that a local guy (into exporting Colombian stuff) had imported some Hippos. He was later shot dead by the police and his Hippos escape. They have been breeding in the wild. They travel the last 120 kms to get their hippo shots. On the trip the camera crew lost 6 Toyota land cruisers, Hammond a half shaft, May most of his electrics and a starter motor, But the Jeep lost nothing.
