In London the plague strikes and Elizabeth defies the austere Bishop Morton by raiding the treasury to help the sick. With the idea spreading that Henry brought the plague to England rebellion is in the air and Margaret orders the arrest of Elizabeth's cousin Edward as its likely figurehead. However Elizabeth persuades her husband that to rule by fear will do him no good. Written by don @ minifie-1

Did You Know?

The score for this episode subtly incorporates voices singing the children's song "Ring a Ring o' Roses" or "Ring Around the Rosie" to correspond with the episode's theme of the Sweating Sickness. The song is commonly believed to be based on the Great Plague of London or the Black Plague although the Sweating Sickness was not the Black Plague. See more »

Princess Elizabeth: At last! I thought they'd never let you come.
Edward Plantagenet aka Teddy: Yay! Granny Cecil! Will you play a game?
Duchess Cecily: Yes. I cannot stay here with you, Lizzie.
Princess Elizabeth: You can, or I will make them!
Duchess Cecily: No, it's... It's my choice. I'm leaving.
Princess Elizabeth: But you can't...
Duchess Cecily: England is too changed. I never thought I'd say this to you nor to anyone, but I am afraid.
Cecily of York: What of?
Duchess Cecily: They're barbarians. I am so sorry, Lizzie, for your plight. Oh, you are so beautiful. You had such promise.
Princess Elizabeth: And I still do.
