French governess, Mademoiselle, is growing increasingly suspicious of Mrs Appleyard's erratic behavior, and fears the worst when she is told that Sara was unexpectedly collected by her guardian, unseen by any other staff. As Mademoiselle searches for answers, the Sergeant travels to Melbourne to seek a last interview with Irma, and a secret vow made by the missing girls is revealed.

Storyline

As more girls and staff leave the school Dianne discovers that Sara has disappeared and disbelieves Hester's account that her guardian collected her, informing Sergeant Bumpher and her watch-maker lover Louis Montpelier. Hester responds by sacking her and a reluctant Dora Lumly. Hester is ambivalent when Dr Mackenzie proposes marriage whilst, in Melbourne, Irma tells Bumpher, investigating Sara's disappearance, that Hester is " a fraud". Written by don @ minifie-1
