Sabine goes undercover as a cadet in the Empire's elite flight academy to help break out several young pilots wanting to defect to the rebellion.
After I heard that Denis Lawson wasn't going to appear in the sequel trilogy, I thought it was a missed opportunity for more Wedge Antilles. But with him now being introduced to this family, I am happy that we at least got a little bit more of the famous rebel pilot. This episode explores his origin, and while it is mostly an episode that doesn't further the overall story that much, I do think it was a fun, enjoyable time. I think some of the episode's actions were a little sloppy, but I also thought that this episode set up some pretty interesting antagonists for the rest of the series, including a little more development for Governor Pryce, who has been teased ever since the first season. It is kinda cool that Wedge defected from the Empire, and it gives him a lot more baggage when we see the attack on the Death Star in the original trilogy. I didn't think I was going to like this episode that much, but I ended up truly enjoying it for what it was, and I do hope that Wedge sticks around and joins the crew on a few of their missions, because I think he's one of those characters that wouldn't hurt from a little character development.
