Did You Know?

The Antilles Extraction was originally titled 'Darklighter' during early development and focused on the defection of Biggs Darklighter instead of Wedge Antilles. The story group was especially keen to pair Biggs with Sabine and imply that she painted the checkered motif on his helmet (having worn the same motif on her shoulder during season one), but these ideas were discarded because the time at which Biggs joins the rebellion is much closer to A New Hope than the Rebels series is at this point. One moment part of Sabine's purple-ish hair can be seen from under her TIE fighter head cover, then not long after when she goes to speak to Wedge outside, her hair is completely brown. See more »

The Antilles Extraction
17 December 2019 | by lassegalsgaardSee all my reviews

After I heard that Denis Lawson wasn't going to appear in the sequel trilogy, I thought it was a missed opportunity for more Wedge Antilles. But with him now being introduced to this family, I am happy that we at least got a little bit more of the famous rebel pilot. This episode explores his origin, and while it is mostly an episode that doesn't further the overall story that much, I do think it was a fun, enjoyable time. I think some of the episode's actions were a little sloppy, but I also thought that this episode set up some pretty interesting antagonists for the rest of the series, including a little more development for Governor Pryce, who has been teased ever since the first season. It is kinda cool that Wedge defected from the Empire, and it gives him a lot more baggage when we see the attack on the Death Star in the original trilogy. I didn't think I was going to like this episode that much, but I ended up truly enjoying it for what it was, and I do hope that Wedge sticks around and joins the crew on a few of their missions, because I think he's one of those characters that wouldn't hurt from a little character development.
