Storyline

Based on the 2012 MSNBC documentary, Bryon Widner was one of the FBI's most sought after white supremacists. Covered in racist tattoos from head to toe that he earned performing hate crimes, he conducts a destructive life and is headed down the path of no return. When he meets Julie and her three young daughters from previous relationships, the responsibilities of fatherhood give him the desire to leave the movement behind. He endures death threats and harassment from his old gang while attempting to turn his life around. With the help of the FBI and SPLC, he undergoes 25 brutal tattoo removal surgeries in exchange for decoding the tattoos covering his body, which culminates in the arrest and conviction of his former gang. scary but true
4 August 2019 | by antoniotiernoSee all my reviews

Skin" is a good movie about fractured race relations, a problem plaging the US for hundreds of years. It is a small story about huge themes and feeling gritty, raw and unseemly. Bell rightfully dominates and carries the picture and Vera Farmiga delivers the best performance as Babs' adoptive mom Shareen. The kind of ation is such to achieve a level of reality to the unfolding drama. Bryon is the focal point of the feature, and the script follows his daily experience in the Vinlanders Social Club, where Hammer rules through practiced hate speech and intimidation, creating a community of skinheads willing to murder those they perceive as American invaders. The story details at first Bryon's horrifying experience in these hatred dominated ambiances, then it shows gradually the redemption process. Overall effective scenese and everything seeming genuinly true.
