Trivia

Back in 2016, after the success of Game of Thrones: Battle of the Bastards (2016), Game of Thrones: The Winds of Winter (2016) and Game of Thrones: Hardhome (2015), David Benioff and D.B. Weiss asked director Miguel Sapochnik to come back to direct an episode on season 7, as well and later on in season 8 too. Miguel told them he wouldn't be able to work on seasons 7 and 8 both, so they insisted that if he had to chose one, it'd be season 8. Even after the scripts were ready for season 8 and the original plan of Sapochnik directing episodes 3, 4 and 5 didn't pull through, Miguel preferred to do episodes 4 and 5 and drop episode 3, but it was David and Dan that insisted he'd direct this specific episode by all means, since they believed he is the most fit director for the job of the biggest, most ambitious and most logistically complicated battle in the entire series.
