Storyline

Will is sent to the hospital in the Hawkins Laboratory but the doctors can not find a reason for his pain. Murray makes many copies of the tape to send to the newspapers. Meanwhile Dustin and Steve find that Dart has escaped from the basement digging a hole out. Bob joins Joyce in the hospital while Dr. Sam Owens shows Hopper the size of the Gate. Will awakes with no memories and Dr. Owens finds that he and other hosts are connected to a hive through a virus. He discusses with the other scientists how Will's brain has been affected by the shadow monster. Steve, Dustin, Lucas and Max use pieces of meat as bait expecting to catch Dart in the junkyard. But the creature comes with other Demogorgons and trap the kids in the bus. Out of the blue, they return to the tunnels to attack the soldiers that had been sent there based on Will's information. Trivia

At Murray's ( Brett Gelman ) house, Nancy ( Natalia Dyer ) and Jonathan ( Charlie Heaton ) retreat to separate sleeping locations, where we see different scenes of each in their room muttering to themselves while trying to resist the heavy sexual tension between the two. This scene is cut like, and almost certainly a reference to, a similar scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), where Indy and Willie Scott are doing the same. Nancy's sleeping quarters even have double doors just like Willie's. They each come out of their room to find the other right there. See more »

Goofs

Jonathan picks up an empty Polaroid cartridge, on which the words 'Impossible Impulse Battery' are just about visible. The Impossible Project (renamed Polaroid Originals in 2017) was founded in 2008 to continue supplying film for Polaroid cameras, 24 years after the year this takes place. See more »
