Father Brown tries to solve the murder of an authoress with the help of a book she has written.

Bitchy writer Lucia Morell, author of the racy 'Lucia and Lulu' is murdered after threatening to expose philanthropist Lady Ursula Lansford as her ex-lover and the Lulu of the book. Soon afterwards Mildred, one of the girls in Lady Ursula's care, is also killed. The bungling Mallory arrests Friar Novak, Ursula's adoring game-keeper, but Father Brown suspects that a reading of the book will give a clue to the murderer's identity.—don @ minifie-1

Inspector Mallory looks no further then ex-monk 'friar' Novak, Ursula's devoted game-keeper, who lacks a motive.
