Fans of the Jack Ryan book series may recall that Jack was hesitant to accept pain medication after he was hospitalized in the novel 'Patriot Games.' In the book, Jack implies that he is fearful of developing a dependency on prescription drugs because he's experienced difficulty tapering off before. The continuity of this character detail is maintained in Episode 102, when Jack refuses the doctor's Hydrocodone prescription after an MRI exposes the old and new damage to his lower back.

Goofs
The MRI that Ryan's doctor is examining/interpreting is actually from a 55 year old female. The screws seen (which are not properly placed) are fusing the L3 and L4 vertebrae, not L4 and L5 as stated. The doctor would also not be looking at an image with so many scratches or marks on it.

Lazy show runners

While in France all of the armed law enforcement have POLICE on their backs. In France police are essentially meter maids. They mostly write parking tickets and are not armed. The armed law enforcement are the Gendarmarie and are labeled as such.
