Did You Know?

Before killing one of his fighters Giorgio tells him "don't forget to pay the ferryman". In Greek mythology when a person died their soul would be sent to the shores of the River Styx in the underworld. In order to reach the other side and enter Hades (the afterlife) they have to be ferried across the river by Charon, the ferryman. But in order to do so they must pay the toll for crossing the river, if they didn't have any money to pay Charon they would not be able to cross the river and enter the afterlife and their soul would be cursed to wander in limbo for eternity. Hence the ancient Greek custom of placing two coins over the eyes of a person when they are buried, the coins are to be used to pay Charon's toll. See more »

It should have been obvious to Green, Sasha and Wolf that all they needed to do to keep the missile launcher from being controlled remotely was to take out the camera and antenna on the side of it. With the camera the remote operator wouldn't be able to see anything to aim at, and without the antenna it most likely couldn't receive a remote signal. See more »

Chandler's muscles
20 September 2017 | by tenshi_ippikiookamiSee all my reviews

The second episode of season four of "The Last Ship", "The Pillars of Hercules" can be divided into two blocks: Nathan James' adventures in the Mediterranean sea and Chandler's search for a purpose in life. The first one, even if silly, delivers. The second, sadly, no.

The Nathan James is on a cruise when it encounters some problems. Cue the crew trying to survive a dangerous threat. It is all very silly, with a couple of head-scratching plot developments, but the action is good enough, and it is engaging and fun. You will be able to forgive its problems.

Chandler losing his shirt... Well, not so much. Chandler, for unknown reasons, decides to join the bad guy and his mafia and go around punching people in silly punch fights. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and, on top of that, the bad guys are the kind that kill their own people just because. You will expect a cat to make an appearance at any moment. Of course, we know it is all an excuse so Chandler can get back to his ship, but it stretches reality to its breaking point.

It all ends up being entertaining enough (never actually 'good'), but close to jumping the shark.
