A darkly comedic drama with strong elements of magic realism about a well off progressive multiracial family from Portland, Oregon made up of husband named Greg, a philosophy professor and disillusioned idealist suffering from midlife identity crisis who regularly cheats on his wife with a prostitute, his wife Audrey, a therapist who always tries to do the right thing and find common ground in every conflict, their three adopted children, a daughter from Liberia named Ashley who runs her own retail fashion website, a son from Vietnam named Duc who is a womanizer and works as a life coach, and a gay son from Colombia named Ramon who is studying video game design and starts suffering from psychic visions in which he keeps seeing the numbers 11:11, and their only biological daughter Kristen who is a junior in high school. With violence, intolerance and hatred on the rise as sexual, spiritual and gender identities become more fluid, the family finds their sanity tested and values ...

Did You Know?

In episode 5 Audrey gets a phone call from Greg. The ringtone from the cell phone is oddly reminiscent of the theme music from the film American Beauty. Which was also written by Here and Now's creator/producer Alan Ball. See more »

No ignorance here

I had to post a review with all the negative reviews because of the whole liberal/conservative BS, but if you're like me, and just want to watch a great tv series then HERE and NOW is just that..It's amazing!!

It's Alan Ball! Six feet under, Banshee, True Blood...The guys a legend in my book, so I took the positive reviews and went into the pilot...amazing! Yes, there's gay scenes, so what? This series ratings from other straight guys like me, but unlike me cringe with the thought. Heres the thing, Idc about that sh.t because I believe in love no matter what gender...its love! That's a trigger to some people unfortuanitly and it makes life less better, I get that it is, that it is! I dig the diverse cast BECAUSE OF THE STORIES, not just because their not all white. I don't think it was Alan Balls idea in his creation of the story to create a diverse caste for society lol come on! It's because they would bring more in-depth story telling wake up! I just want a great story, don't you? This doesn't make me a liberal because guess what, I'm actually not a liberal. I'm actually neither. I'm myself! So, all the reviews talking about PC bullshit...just stop and escape reality, otherwise you're watching TV for all of the wrong reasons! I understand this review is going to be hugely disliked, but I'm proud of it because, although this will be an unpopular opinion, I'ts so right (if you're saying it's so left just leave Here and now, here and now.). Leave all your politcal agendas or whatever and remember you watch TV to escape what is going in in life and be swept away by a great story to be captured and executed! Im so sorry to the people that get what im saying, for making this what I literally dont want it to be about.

Here and now is so aptly titled btw! In the age of binge watching, sign me up for appointment TV for Here and Now!HERE and NOW
