It is an Eastern European animation about an alcoholic badger - technically good but otherwise it is what you expect it to be

We all have an image of what Eastern European animation is like, don't we? Perhaps we developed it ourselves from seeing classic examples, or maybe from jokes such as the Worker & Parasite show on The Simpsons. Regardless of how or why you know this to be the case, we generally can picture what we have in mind. Nighthawk doesn't seem concerned by that, and embraces key elements from the getgo. The plot sees a drunk badger asleep in the road and, when it is attempted to recover him, he steals the police-car and drives off. In terms of narrative that is about your lot, although there is a basis for truth in the film since badgers do get drunk off rotten fruit.

The animation is technically well done, and worth reading about the way it was done and the influences behind it, however it is mostly deliberately ugly and crude in its character design and blurry images. This makes it visually difficult, and there is not much else here but the visual element. I read one post suggesting this is a presentation of the decline and confusion of a drunk, and while I suppose that is there, it is something that is present rather than something active that adds a lot to the viewing experience. One for animation fans then, not those casually browsing the net looking for something to watch.
