Kicking off 2019 with forgettable fun
As far as January releases go, it could be a lot worse than this. If you can accept the kind of film this is and it's cliche characters spouting often clunky dialogue, it's pretty enjoyable; despite that it's about ten to fifteen minutes too long. In fact, once everyone assembles in the first escape room and the plot gets going and the danger kicks in, it can be quite tense. The first three rooms are fun but the novelty starts to wear off along with patience for the story and some of it's characters as the movie drags on. Overall though, there's enjoyment to be had here among all the familiar cheese and predictability.
